Versace Spring 2013 Milan Fashion Week: Tailoring With a Lingerie Edge

“You don’t necessarily think of Versace for tailoring anymore. We’re so known for dresses,” Telegraph quoted Donatella Versace’s comment on her spring 2013 collection at Milan Fashion Week. “I wanted to show what we can do.”
According to show notes, “tailoring with a lingerie edge” was the inspiration behind collection – except it was the lingerie that stole the show.

Boyfriend jackets were teamed with the likes of cropped camisoles, short shorts, and miniskirts, all adorned with a passel of lace and lacey details. “Strong but delicate, like me,” Donatella quipped.
Spiffy suits for Versace girls? Yes. Fit for the office? Not unless you work at Versace.

There were elegant stone-age princesses in thigh-high slit eveningwear, and there were heeled gladiators in grunge see-through tops. “That’s very street style, isn’t it?” Donatella asked rhetorically, adding, “which is what I wanted. But then I worried about whether they were sexy or feminine enough.”
After seeing the collection, I doubt anyone would question its sex appeal.
For the record, I love the collection, but I might need to lose a few pounds to rock it.
